The uncontrolled use of toothpaste with added fluoride can cause fluorosis in children of preschool age. Dentists recommend caution on the use of toothpastes in children aged less than 2 years. Flushing dental compositions containing fluoride and the use of food supplements fortified with fluoride should be made only to persons at high risk for tooth decay.
