‘Saints & Tzadiks’ Susan McKeown and Lorin Sklamberg in Berlin Klezmer meets Irish folk a great concert! Two excellent Grammy winners who together performed at the Berlin ufa-Fabrik, present a wonderful high-class international music. The Irish folk icon Susan McKeown and the internationally renowned Klezmer artist Lorin Sklamberg, the voice of klezmatics, inspire the professional Berlin audience with a mixture of Yiddish and Irish folk music. Lorin Sklamberg, the lead singer of the Klezmatics, 2003 teamed up with the renowned Irish folk singer Susan McKeown and started a project of a very special kind. Musical encounters they are themselves for the first time on the occasion of an ambitious “Klezmatics” production with texts of folk legend Woody Guthrie: “Wonder Wheel Lyrics By Woody Guthrie”. At that time, both artists found that harmonize their voices in a wonderful way. Sklamberg and McKeown have appeared on your fall 2009 CD Saints & Tzadiks’ Yiddish music and Irish folk, mixed and rearranged. You present their works in Gaelic, Yiddish and English. The songs deal with the mass immigration of both cultures, Jewish and Irish, to America.

They are supported by excellent Celtic guitarist DONOGH Hennessy in the concert in the ufa factory and what was hardly possible, musical impressively upgraded. The guitarist Hennessy perfectly mastered his instrument! He can elicit soulful sounds from the guitar and on the other hand mimic the sound of an orchestra. Susan McKeown enchants the audience with their warm Alto voice, Lorin Sklamberg, however, can impress with his high tenor voice. The combination of apparently different musical genres, folk and klezmer, succeed with a high perfection. The tympanic membrane of listeners at gentle vibrations with a soulful polyphony bring McKeown and Sklamberg and on the other hand is to feel a tingling sensation on the skin. If Lorin Sklamberg plays his accordion, close felt the Yiddish music. However, needs only an instrument to guitarist DONOGH Hennessy Gaelic sound of a voice to be able to reproduce. The atmospheric songs are wonderful! The songs that combine clear and powerful Irish music with profound Yiddish Klezmer but again have a special charm.
